Meson

Because mesons are constructed of one quark and something antiquark, they are found in triplet and singlet spin states.
The latter are called scalar mesons or pseudoscalar mesons, depending on their parity .
Today, the restored building houses a Cuban eatery called El Meson De Pepe.
Our hot grilled sandwiches have already been called among the best on earth.
That is probably why our customers eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Bursting with the new, lively flavors of the Caribbean, they lead to an utterly unique sandwich eating experience.

  • Yet, these particles usually do not consist of an individual quark/antiquark pair, as all the other conventional mesons discussed above do.

One of many goals of the field of hadronic spectroscopy would be to find experimental evidence for exotic mesons, tetraquarks, molecules of hadrons, and glueballs.
Each meson includes a corresponding antiparticle where quarks are replaced by their corresponding antiquarks and vice-versa.
Nuclear emulsions may be used to record and investigate fast charged particles like nucleons or mesons.

Mesons are classified into groups in accordance with their isospin , total angular momentum , parity , G-parity or C-parity when applicable, and quark content.
The rules for classification are defined by the Particle Data Group, and so are rather convoluted.
The rules are presented below, in table form for simplicity.
Higher-energy mesons were created momentarily in the Big Bang, but are not thought to are likely involved in nature today.
However, such heavy mesons are regularly created in particle accelerator experiments that explore the type of the heavier quarks that compose the heavier mesons.
Mesons are routinely produced artificially in cyclotrons or other particle accelerators in the collisions of protons, antiprotons, or other particles.

  • On days past when no ordinary sandwich can do, it’s time for the Meson Special.

  • particles that are hadrons (i.e., are composed of quarks) and are color-neutral with zero baryon number, and thus by conventional definition are mesons.
