The ‘NOW’ setting includes a full bandwidth and a modern, clean, and bright sound with none of the characteristic artifacts of the 1970s or 1980s settings.
I love that the plugin doesn’t inundate an individual with a horde of complex but barely useful controls, instead choosing to limit parameters to the most used ones and displaying them boldly.

On ValhallaDSP’s website for $50at the time of writing this review, VintageVerb is the definition of ‘bang for the buck’ if there ever was one.
With competing reverbs of such high quality from Liquid Sonics, Slate, Eventide, etc. retailing for more than $125 (or even $500+ for Altiverb), this offering is a total no-brainer.
VintageVerb, like other ValhallaDSP plugins, has quite a light CPU footprint, loading and running snappily even in heavy projects.
The easy but elegant GUI is responsive and has shown no glitches or bugs in my usage till now.
It ought to be noted though, that personally, I don’t find this reverb being particularly effective at being subtle.

Four of the delays go for the feel, rather than exact replication of vintage devices, and at first, Tape was where I spent the majority of my time, as it’s more reminiscent of my beloved Space Echo.

  • I am adding a new algorithm to the upcoming ValhallaRoom update, but actually seeing Prometheus end that naming scheme; Red Letter Media summarizes my thoughts on this subject.
  • This program is a undertake classic and modern delay and echo units.
  • ValhallaDelay features 7 different delay modes from classic (tape, HiFi, BBD…) to brand-new innovative ones like the Ghost mode.
  • Plenty of reverb plugins sound plastic-y and unnatural right out from the box, and need considerable work and tweaking to get them to sound right in a mix.

Pretty skeletal deck, but it was more entertaining when presented personally.
Don Gunn helped me out with a Logic X project that accompanied the presentation.

With UberMod, it’s possible to generate tape-style feedback delays effects, chorus-style and flange-style modulated effects, reverse reverb sounds and many more besides.
By adjusting Modulation parameters, Spread, Slope and Skew of the delay taps, Diffusion Rate and Depth, EQ, distortion and warping, there’s always something unexpected waiting around the corner with UberMod.
Perhaps the most straight-up of all the Valhalla DSP plugins, Valhalla Room gives you a simulation of the reverb response of a genuine room.
This can be regarded as a studio space, in most cases, however the sound and response can also be pushed into more extreme territory.

  • VintageVerb on the other hand, even yet in its default setting offers a silky, lush ambiance that fits like a glove in a combination.
  • Easing my way to avoid it of Tape, HiFi is a more refined tape delay that sounds akin to how delay was initially utilized in recordings in the first days of studio trickery, using multiple tape machines to achieve a delay effect.
  • Tape echo, BBD, old-school digital, pitch shifting, it’s got you covered.
  • FreqEcho’s mission would be to explore that, pairing its main Shift control with Delay time, Feedback and Mix controls, for eerie echoes that do not delay – on.
